squeezing something that looks like marrow out of life

so the phone call with my best friend went better than i thought it would yesterday. i can't imagine getting a cancer diagnosis on your 45th birthday. of course, ask me again in 3 years. i think she's going to get the help she needs and be in a better place on the other side of it. at least, that's my fucking hope.

i did write 7 poems today. mom cancelled her physical therapy, so i wrote them at home. as you might imagine, they are pretty fucking dark. i really like a few of them. i believe that puts me at 40 poems for the month. that's a pretty decent pace so far. i typed the poems up after i got done feeding the birds today. amazingly, the hot pepper suet i put out for them almost lasted 4 damn hours. they treat it like crack, it's amazing.

the New York Yankees were rained out last night. so, they will have to go back to Washington D.C. to make up the suspended and rained out game against the Nationals in June. the Yankees are off tonight and start a series at Kansas City tomorrow night.

NXT was really good last night.

Being Serena was very good last night as well.

here are your highlights from the NHL and NBA playoffs last night.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, the season finale of Gotham and the season finale of Life in Pieces.

i will probably watch some of the NHL playoffs tonight as well.

i did listen to the latest Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast today. you can find that by going here:
http://notsam.com/wrestlingpodcast/2018/5/17/wrestling-podcast-186-skylar-astin

i put out the hummingbird feeders today. i'm hoping to see some here soon. i'd love to try to get some video of it. if that ever happens, i'll definitely post it on the blog.

i'll be on here tomorrow after i go to the grocery store. mom has already told me i'll be doing the shopping by myself tomorrow. that should make it a little more interesting.

when genius strikes

so you can just imagine the poem when i notice a woman with down syndrome picking her nose while an elderly couple is arguing and i'm thinking of killing myself. welcome to my afternoon in the waiting room at the doctor's office. of course, i got mom there early and nearly 20 minutes after the appointment was scheduled to start, she finally got called to the back. apparently her doctor's nurse was off today and the other dimwits in the office forgot that mom was there.

i missed probably the first 30 minutes of Manchester United vs. Real Madrid today in the UEFA Super Cup. United didn't look like they kicked into gear until they went down 2-0. sadly, they could never find the quality to score the equalizer and lost 2-1. oh well. hopefully they have another signing before the silly season ends and have a great campaign in the Premier League.

Monday Night Raw was excellent last night. i don't think i'll ever get tired of watching Braun Strowman beat up Roman Reigns. or Samoa Joe attacking Roman from behind. plus, i love the slow burn the writers are doing with a possible Shield reunion. brilliant stuff there. all in all, an excellent show last night.

Brillo Box (3 cents off) was really good last night. it was almost a little pop art education for anyone who only knows Andy Warhol from that scene and no one else.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Vice News Tonight, Smackdown, Hard Knocks, Deadliest Catch and The Jim Jefferies Show. i'll watch 205 Live sometime tonight on WWE Network.

the New York Yankees start a series tonight at Toronto. hopefully they win as i would like to drink.

i figure i will send out some poems tomorrow morning. i will probably do the blog after that most likely.

i have plenty of trash to pick up and for some reason mom dirtied nearly every dish in the house on Sunday and just let them sit. so, you know who gets to do dishes this evening. let's just say the music will be loud and i will have every fucking cuss word on the tip of my motherfucking tongue.

i got a random email from my first girlfriend today. let's just say i hope beyond hope that leads to something.

a stormy night is good for writing...

it would be even better if the rain really didn't fuck with my arthritis like it does. i wrote 4 poems last night/this morning. if my hands would have felt better, i might have written another 10 more. i typed up the 4 this afternoon and really like them. i may do a little submission before vacation or i may just stockpile the poems for when i get back. i'm not sure yet.

Copa America Update:
the USA vs. Argentina game is massive tonight. if the USA can pull off the upset, i will be thrilled. all i really want tonight is for them to seize the opportunity they have in front of them and play their best. if that isn't enough to win, so be it. it will certainly be a good test to see where "we" are going against the #1 team in the world.

Euro 2016 Update:
Germany defeated Northern Ireland this afternoon 1-0. Poland defeated Ukraine 1-0. both of them advanced out of the group. right now, Spain leads Croatia 1-0 and Turkey leads Czech Republic 1-0. both matches are in the first half.

the storms knocked out the satellite a few times last night, so Monday Night Raw was disjointed for me as i missed nearly half of it. i did enjoy most of what i saw, mostly because of Kevin Owens and Dean Ambrose. i figured out why they had Roman Reigns lose the title on Sunday. he got suspended for 30 days for a Wellness Policy Violation. most likely, he took something he shouldn't have and pissed hot. maybe that changes Vince's opinion of him.

i did watch all of the AJ Styles interview with Stone Cold Steve Austin last night on WWE Network. i was somewhat amazed they actually mentioned TNA in the interview, as that has become the company that usually isn't named on the network. i do like that AJ loves WWE so much that he wants to work for it after he retires.

enjoy some music:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be Deadliest Catch and Maya & Marty.

Croatia scored right before halftime to make their game with Spain 1-1.

the New York Yankees play at home tonight against Colorado. i won't be watching.

i have to pick up the trash here and next door, so that's all for me today kids.

2 out of 3 ain't bad...

three days in a row of sunshine, holy shit... it was so nice outside today i went ahead and put out the pink flamingos. and much to mom's dismay, i made sure to put them in the front of the house this time. good times.

for National Poetry Month, i give you:

the New York Yankees left a small village on base last night, losing to Seattle 7-1. against one of the better pitchers in baseball today, they did the exact same thing, losing 3-2. that's 4 straight losses and i believe they are something like 3 for 44 with runners in scoring position in those losses. so i guess this team is just like last year, they can't get the big hit to save their lives. joy.

NJPW was really good last night. 2 great matches that flew by in the 60 minutes of the show.

VICE was very good. it's an episode that i wish everyone in this country would watch.

i tossed and turned all night long. i'm not sure if it was because it was hotter or just my shitty dreams. i was really fucking tired when i started watching Manchester United this morning. apparently, at least after the first 25 minutes or so, so were they. thank god for Marcus Rashford. his goal was enough as United tried their best to give Aston Villa life, but they won 1-0. this relegates Villa for the first time in 28 years. ouch.

the New York Rangers finally woke up in the second period today and blitzed Pittsburgh, scoring 3 goals in a matter of minutes. they eventually won the game 4-2 to even the series 1-1. they next play at MSG on Tuesday. hopefully they continue their good play at home. 15 wins to go to bring Lord Stanley home.

so i've got 2 victory beers to enjoy. i'll do that after i take a shower. or maybe in the shower, i haven't done that in a while.

enjoy some music kids:

and now some of this and that:

on the DVR tonight will be ROH and Saturday Night Live.

after i take a shower i will probably flip between some playoff hockey and basketball and the UFC.

i hope everyone has a great Saturday. call if you need bail money. take it easy and then take it again.

a shower can't wash away everything

i was all fired up for the hockey game this afternoon. USA vs. Russia. winner goes to the gold medal game. i had "lucky" clothes on, was in a good frame of mind and the voice was at full force. these are the days where i'm sure my mother wishes she didn't work from home. the USA scored first and had another shot hit the post in the first period. sadly, that would be the last time they would come close to really having a chance to score. size and skill, which was basically 2/3 of the Russian team, will always beat skill. that's one of those unwritten laws of hockey. Russia scored twice in the second period and more or less, just choked off the game from there. Russia won 2-1. third fucking year in a row they have defeated us in the World Juniors. the USA will play Sweden tomorrow morning for the Bronze medal. i'll be interested to see if either team gives a shit, seeing that both teams lost to a rival the day before.

so after the game i took a long shower. i was hoping the hot water on my back and neck would feel good. sadly, it didn't. it's finally winter here and sure enough, my back is tighter than shit. i did find it funny that the news were making it sound like a blizzard was coming this morning during the morning commute. we didn't get anything here other than frost.

i went 8-8 on my NFL picks yesterday. that pretty much sums up my picks all damn year as i was 19 games worse than last season. in my eyes, that's a complete fucking failure even though i was 151-105 for the regular season.

i have two YouTube videos in my head that just need to be filmed now. one is pretty simple. the other i'm trying to pull off some shit that i have never tried before. i'm trying to make 2016 the year where i don't give a shit about failing. we'll see.

enjoy some music kids:

and now some of this and that:

i will be watching Monday Night Raw tonight and the season finale of Breaking Ground on WWE Network. i will also try to catch some college basketball tonight as well.

speaking of college basketball, i see that the Dayton Flyers are now number 25 in the AP Poll. it sucks as it always seems we end up losing as soon as we get ranked. hopefully that doesn't happen this Wednesday at home against UMass.

amazingly, the New Orleans Saints won yesterday 20-17. i was flipping between that and the heartbreak my mother had watching her Jets blow a chance at the playoffs. i know that made my sister happy, as she is a Steelers fan.

i will be on here tomorrow after the Bronze medal game. hopefully i will be in a good mood.

i hope everyone had a great weekend. i think it's starting to sink in that it is 2016 now. 17 more days until i turn 40. or how a bumper sticker says it, until life begins.

the winds of hell

oh shit, two days in a row. i guess i'm back in the flow of this once again.

i didn't sleep very well last night. i'm not sure if it's the season or the absolutely fucking bizarre dreams i was having. between one where my high school girlfriend actually was in love with me to one where i was accused in history class of putting mustard on a chocolate cake. not sure what the fuck it all means nor do i really fucking care at the moment.

of course, 20 minutes after i woke up from those dreams, i opened an email from Russell at The Camel Saloon passing on the poems i sent yesterday. well, that helps solve the problem with not having poems for the broadside project.

i was not very pleased with Monday Night Raw last night. other than Brock Lesnar nearly killing everyone, the rest of the night was a bit of a downer. i did like the debuts of the guys from NXT. hopefully they are on Raw for a long time. it just felt like they were back to hey, let's fuck the audience again and not give them anything they want. though, i doubt they liked the cheers when Brock did this to lead announcer Michael Cole:
of course, it would have been best to do the rest of the show in silence. they chose not to and made shit even worse.

i watched The Voice from last night this afternoon. i figured it was a good time, especially given the way team USA has been playing here recently. they were playing Switzerland at noon. so, once The Voice was over, i flipped over to the soccer match. of course, i missed a great goal:
USA ended up drawing with the Swiss 1-1. Jozy Altidore got a red card. not sure why people think he didn't deserve it. he was going to get a yellow for the tackle. you can't exactly tell the ref to go fuck himself and not think you're not getting another yellow. stupid stupid STUPID. oh well, just another fucking friendly where they couldn't hold a lead.

the New York Rangers play tonight up in Winnipeg. this isn't the best place to try to get on a good streak. hopefully they win against a desperate Jets team.

on the DVR tonight will be the recap episode of The Voice and Undateable, one of the few comedies i actually like on NBC.

the people that were supposed to get the furniture today didn't show up. figures. mom has told them they have to be here by 8 in the morning tomorrow or she's giving it all away to charity. so much for sleeping in tomorrow.

i got some free music on iTunes today. i haven't been over to NoiseTrade yet to see what they have. and, i guess i should check out that new streaming service that Jay Z is doing. judging from the commercial, it looks interesting.

that's all for me today. i believe i might have to drive mom to work tomorrow. her Meniere's disease has been acting up again. if that happens, i'll bring along a pen and paper and maybe get a few poems down. either that, or maybe do some day drinking. good times.

hope this finds everyone drunk and looking at bad porn. until tomorrow bitches.

and then reality sets in...

yesterday went pretty good, all things considered. i only got into it with my sister once. i benched the right players in fantasy football (except for you, you asshole Tony Romo). and, there was a ton of shit removed from the house to take to Goodwill. that should make the move a little easier.

my mother and sister are out and about at the moment. hopefully my mother remembers to take it easy and don't get stressed. being with my sister, i'm not sure that's possible.

i did get about 90% of my Christmas shopping done yesterday. hopefully it all gets here in one piece. with all the gift cards and codes, i think i spent around $100. not too bad. i'm thinking of what to come up with for my fans and friends. i'm toying with doing some watercolors and cutting them up into a puzzle. if i do anything, all that will be going out in early December.

i did hear back from The Kitchen Poet on my poetry submission from back in August. they decided to pass as they are too backlogged at the moment. so, now i really have a nice size batch of poems to go through for the next round of submissions.

i got 2 of the 3 football games wrong yesterday. thankfully, those games don't count in the one pick 'em i play for money.

the New York Rangers start a home and home against Philly this afternoon. the hot rumor at the moment is the Rangers will be getting their captain back today. if so, that will go a LONG way to solving their defensive problems. hopefully i'll be enjoying a victory beer this afternoon.

i do plan on getting most of my poetry work done this afternoon as i will have no fucking time this weekend to do it.

sorry to cut this short, but i have a ton of trash to get out of the house, cats to feed, and a fantasy hockey roster to go check.

of course, i could go on bitching forever about the baseboard heaters that stopped working this morning in our great room.

by the way, i did FINALLY get to listen to the CM Punk interview yesterday with Colt Cabana. if the WWE's medical staff really did allow him to wrestle with a staph infection for 3 months, they all should be fired. and i'm really happy that Punk has found happiness and is free from the bullshit of the company. hopefully i get to see him in a ring one day again, but if it never happens, he left me with some great fucking memories. and honestly, i think he'll have more fun writing comic books than battling sloppy wrestlers.

ok, now i'm finished. thanks again to all 3 of you for allowing me to waste your precious time. i hope everyone has a great weekend.

and the days and nights start to bleed together...

yet another Monday where i'm running on fumes. it was almost completely worth it, right up until the Saints got their asses handed to them last night. then, it all became one long, long drag...not even some great television could save me. anywho, on with the show...

the Yankees won yesterday 9-5 to finish the season 84-78. Derek Jeter got a RBI single in his last at bat, giving him 3.465 hits for his career. that puts him at 6th place all time. not bad. i thought the Red Sox did a pretty good job with the ceremony yesterday, albeit some of it was WAY over the top. did they really think Jeter was going to dance to someone singing RESPECT? i certainly got a little misty when he left the field for the final time. i've watched his whole damn career. my second favorite Yankee of all time. hopefully he truly enjoys his retirement, he has earned it.

my fantasy football yesterday was full of heartbreak. i have lost one game by 4 damn points. i'm trailing in the other by 3 points going into the game tonight. and i certainly sucked at picking games this week. this is the kind of week that you tend to realize that sometimes when going with your gut, you find out your gut is full of shit.

the Saints got killed last night 38-17. and quite honestly, it wasn't even that close. thankfully, i only got to see bits and pieces of the game. they aren't going to start winning games until they fix that fucking defense.

thankfully, the Sunday night shows were excellent last night. Boardwalk Empire was great. i always love a brutal murder to finish off a show. The Strain was brilliant last night. another layer of the onion was revealed. i LOVE that show. Last Week Tonight had me laughing. Total Divas was pretty good. Ray Donovan was excellent. it certainly had a few shocking moments in the season finale. Masters of Sex was great. that had a few twists as well.

tonight is yet another clusterfuck on tv for me. i'm going to try to do a better job of watching Gotham tonight. that pretty much means that The Big Bang Theory is going to get the slight this week. The Voice and Monday Night Raw are on at that time as well. once again, i'll be relying on YouTube to help me with what i miss on the shows.

i think i may have found a new favorite music video:

around 4 in the morning, i wrote 5 poems. i typed those up this afternoon. i'm trying to write poems that are less than 8 lines long. got a few places i want to send to that want short poems. plus, i always love a good challenge.

one of these days i'm going to take advantage of this weather we are having and take some new photos of the farm. it's getting really close to harvest time.

that's pretty much all for me today. i hope everyone had a great weekend. thanks again for allowing me to waste a few minutes of your precious time.

where does the time go

i guess i have officially decided to sleep well when i'm dead. i was up late last night/this morning doing some writing. i wrote 5 really good poems. let's just say, i really hope i'm not being duped by this woman i met or i'm going to look like a bigger fool than i normally do.

i'll type those up later today sometime.

i did happen to catch the first episode of The Knick last night on Cinemax. really, really good. i think i'm going to enjoy this one. if you can catch it sometime this weekend, i highly urge you to do so.

the Yankees got a rare offensive explosion last night, winning 10-6 over Cleveland. helps that Carlos Beltran hit a grand slam. they play again this afternoon. before the game, they will honor The Warrior, Paul O'Neill. i can't wait to see that.

i did also watch the latest episode of Treehouse Masters last night. i'm wondering if i could make one that is a pool hall. now that would be some badass shit.

it's really starting to get dry out here on the farm. now, i know a good number of you living in a drought just told me to go fuck myself. i just want this great crop we have going out here to continue. if this does happen to be our last harvest, i'd like to go out with a bang.

mom has really increased her looking for a new house in the last few days. i figure she either really wants to move or she is just now realizing that her "vacation" is winding down. let it be known, i come from one giant long line of procrastinators. it's beyond frustrating. i'm more of a make a damn decision and live with the results kind of guy. but it has taken all the fibers of my 38 years on this planet to get to that point.

not sure what else i'm going to be doing this weekend. i'd love to hit up this beer tasting festival nearby, but i doubt that's going to happen. a little thing called money. fuck me.

i do hope everyone is in the beginning of a great weekend. until next time my enemies...

a busy morning

i got something resembling 5 hours of sleep last night. i haven't got my usual, you were out in the sun too long asshole, shits yet, so i have that to look forward to later today. i did manage to get the grass cut in a little under 4 hours. so, maybe i wasn't out in it too long. the clouds are getting dark right now. i made sure to get the cats fed before it rains.

i did type up the 5 poems i wrote yesterday waiting for my mother to get out of her MRI. i really like these. i will send them out in my next batch of submissions.

this morning i sent out 17 poems. 2 to BoySlut and 3 each to Jellyfish Whispers, Pink Litter, Dead Snakes, The Camel Saloon, and Pyrokinection. when i hear back from these places, i will pass along the verdicts.

today is my father's birthday. i wasn't sure i should submit some poems today, given the horrific nature of this date. but, i figured i would roll the dice.

the Yankees came from behind again last night to win 6-4. amazingly, that is their 17th straight win at home against Toronto. they will hopefully extend that streak later this afternoon.

also today, Manchester United takes on Roma. that should be a good test for the new system the boys are playing. i'll be curious to see who LvG plays today.

tonight, i believe the UFC is on FOX. plus, ROH has a new episode. also, i think there is some boxing on. so, looks like it will be a night of combat sports.

i did watch the new episode of Treehouse Masters last night. if i EVER get some fuck you money in my life, i'm getting one of these tricked out treehouses. they are fucking amazing.

i did manage to finally catch up with all i missed on YouTube on Thursday and Friday. i think i'm getting too old to keep up with the digital age. i can just imagine how distracted i would be if i actually had a smartphone. not sure how much longer i can keep fighting that.

so far, i'm holding strong.

wow, my back just tightened up. there is definitely rain on the way.

well, with that, i'm cutting this short.

mom has been mentioning that we might go to the Celtic Festival later today. if that does happen, i'll be sure to take along a camera.

hope this finds everyone well. i do hope you enjoy your weekend. only fuck the ones that cough.

be creative. be amazing. be easy. be easy again. and again. and again...

avoiding the air that you wear

i know when i wake up at 8 in the morning and it is already 80 degrees outside, i'm going to be miserable the second i go outside. and since today is also trash day, i get to spend even more time outside. the only good thing about that, as with every trash day it seems, there is a chance it will storm. so i will probably wait for that to happen. not sure the cats will like that, but they don't have a vote on the matter.

today is the World Cup final. i think i'm going to go with Germany even though i would love to see the chaos of Argentina winning in Brazil. that's about as close as you can get to guaranteed violence. but, i only get a victory beer if Germany wins, so... the Netherlands beat Brazil 3-0 yesterday in the third place game. i loved that for the last 10 minutes of the game, anytime Brazil touched the ball, they got booed by their own fans... overall, this has been a pretty damn good World Cup. not sure what it is going to be like in Russia in four years. i know the time difference is going to be kicking my ass.

the Yankees got some great pitching from Shane Greene yesterday and won 3-0. not bad for only your second start in the majors. hopefully, they have found something in this kid. they finish off the first half of the season tonight on ESPN. i doubt i will watch much of it as my Sunday night is already filled as it is. but, the all star break couldn't come at a better time. they need the days off to regroup and get their shit together.

ROH last night was really good. it featured mostly matches that involved wrestlers from New Japan. always fun to see those guys perform.

i believe my viewing schedule tonight goes Big Brother, Ray Donovan, Masters of Sex, Last Week Tonight, and then i'm hoping to catch The Strain on FX. not sure if i'm going to like it or not, but the previews have sucked me in. as usual, another late night.

i found some printable stencils last night that i liked so my artsy fartsy ass will be coming up with some more shit here soon. i'm thinking along the lines of t-shirts, bumper stickers, etc. of course, if i knew how to use computers better... hell, i sit here too long each day as it is.

well, i need to pick up the trash and get the cats fed. and i'd like to get that done before the World Cup Final starts. hopefully mother nature has that rain coming soon.

hope this finds everyone well. hope your weekend was great. or at least better than the fuckers you hate.

and here comes the rain

i actually got something resembling 6 hours of sleep last night. so, i'm somewhat refreshed. my apologies.

there's thunder in the air here, so i'm going to try to type fast.

the Yankees got off to a great start yesterday and then hung on for dear life, winning 9-7. they were up by 9 after 4 innings. they did take the series though. and made a good trade (at least i hope) and got rid of one of the useless old guys. hopefully more of that is on the way. they are up in Cleveland tonight.

i was so happy for Juan Pablo Montoya yesterday. i haven't been able to see him win often over the last decade or so. so the win at Pocono was very nice to see. he totally deserved it.

the tennis match was pretty good yesterday and i got a little nap watching some golf and soccer. not a bad lazy Sunday at all.

Big Brother made me laugh last night. not because of actual content but more creative editing by CBS. the show happens one way in reality and another in each episode. it's humorous how many people don't really know the difference.

The Leftovers was another weird mess last night. i'm still not sure if i really want to invest my time in it. next Sunday will be the true test with all the Showtime shows coming back on. i imagine if i remember to make an effort to find it next week...

also coming back this week is The Bridge. i can't wait for Wednesday.

no World Cup games today, so i'm going to try to get over to the used music store and sell off some music. hopefully make a little money.

i did compose a poem while i was sitting on the toilet this morning. i haven't typed it up, but i think it has all the makings of a classic.

well, i need to get out there and feed the cats before it really starts storming.

hope this finds everyone well. yes, i know it's Monday, get over it.

peace and chicken grease...

new month same fog

when i woke up this morning you couldn't see the corn, which is less than 50 feet from the house. to say it was foggy would be a huge understatement. i was shocked that i didn't hear about any major accidents or anything. the fog didn't really burn off until 11 am.

had a long, heartbreaking conversation with an old friend this morning. not an easy position for me to be in as i'm basically unable to offer much help and what little i can do isn't being accepted. oh well. hopefully my old friend finds the right spot in the world for themselves. they deserve at least that much.

i enjoyed what i got to see of The Voice last night. i was flipping between baseball and wrestling. but the voices i did get to hear i enjoyed. i'll be paying a little closer attention this evening. emphasis on little.

Monday Night Raw was great last night. kudos to CM Punk for even having me fooled that he injured himself. easy to see why he's my 3rd favorite of all time. all the storylines advanced pretty well going into the ppv this Sunday. they (the creative team) have at the very least kept me interested in what's going on. been awhile since i was at that level.

i did go through some poems this morning and came up with 12 i'll be sending out later this week. i've got 3 places in mind.

a big thank you to Drew Brees for his outstanding performance last night, which allowed me to win both of my fantasy football matches.

the NHL regular season starts this evening. say hello again to the sport i have the most passion about. and if any of my new readers think my rants about baseball are something, wait until the New York Rangers go on a losing streak. only 3 games this evening. i'll be watching bits and pieces, as of course, i have some fantasy players going tonight.

i imagine i will be writing on this again after the Manchester United game tomorrow. hopefully while enjoying a victory beer.

i won a $100 voucher for some wine last night. of course, it was one of those where i had to spend $160 to be able to use the voucher. so, in a week or so, my alcoholism will become a bit more sophisticated.

and speaking of that word, can you think of a better christmas gift than my book Sofisticated White Trash. get your copy today.

plenty of music to get to today. hope this finds everyone well.

failure

i'll start this off by saying i'm a very superstitious person. way past the point of it being quirky... it's more of a psychosis at times. so, when i got the haircut yesterday in the middle of a Yankee winning streak, it was done to tell myself that little mundane things aren't going to wreck my universe.

so, when the Yankees were down last night, 7-2, i more or less was ripping myself a new asshole. then i turn back and the Yankees are winning 8-7. hope springs. then, of course, Mo blows the save, thanks to a horrible throw from Austin Romine and the Yankees eventually lose the game 9-8 in 10 innings. a big thank you to that blind fat fuck lousy excuse of a fucking umpire Joe West for his blown call in the 10th. nothing like yelling like an insane person for 20 minutes about how you hope a man's family dies of AIDS because the dumb ass can't tell what a check swing strike actually is. thankfully, Tampa lost so the Yankees are still 2 1/2 games out of a playoff spot. but, if a losing streak starts, i undoubtedly will bring it all back to my haircut and how it's all my fault. it's a sickness.

i got the result i wanted on Big Brother last night. both cunts are gone. now, the show won't be as entertaining, but at least there should be a winner who isn't a complete douchebag.

as for the NFL game, i'm very happy i'm not playing against anyone who has Peyton Manning this week. and i would feel really good about last night's game if i would have started the TE from Denver who caught 2 TD's instead of having him sitting on my bench. whoops.

the season finale of Wilfred was the usual cliffhanger that i normally expect. didn't expect a death to go along with it, but i'm certainly interested to see where the show goes now.

in a few hours i will be on my way to Columbus to see my sister and some of her friends. plus, the kid that grew up next to me who is now a college graduate and a young woman. i haven't seen her in years. i should feel pretty damn old tonight.

hopefully i get back in time to catch some of the team USA vs. Costa Rica World Cup Qualifying match. if the USA can pull this one off, next Tuesday against Mexico is going to be really sweet.

no matter what time i get back, there's a decent chance the Yankees vs. Red Sox might still be going on. i almost forgot what those games are like when both teams are "good". slow pitch softball games.

and seeing that the first NFL weekend of the season is coming, i might as well get used to either being in my chair watching the television or on the computer checking stats. fun.

to top off everything today, i spent most of the morning with the shits. you simply can't imagine my joy when i go after i have already taken the medication to stop me from going. and people wonder why i rarely like to be in public.

chalk this up as yet another day where i wonder what the fuck i was thinking by telling the 8 year old me no when it came to suicide. just 4 months to go until the 30th year anniversary of that mistake.

hope everyone has a great weekend. for all my soccer (football) friends around the world, here's hoping your national team does well. for all my gambling buddies, start your betting season slow. trust me, it works. and lastly, for the few of you who read this blog and couldn't give 2 shits about sports, i will try to get some poetry and artsy shit for you in the coming days.

until i come to you tomorrow, hopefully without a hangover...

where nostalgia meets apathy

this weekend has been misery for a ginger with sensitive skin. i'm not a real big fan of heat and humidity. i decided to do mother nature a solid yesterday and mow the grass after 5 pm. i was pretty pleased i was able to get it done before the sun went down. now, hopefully mother nature returns the favor and gives us a little rain in one of the next 5 days we have a chance.

after my shower last night i settled down to eat some pizza and watch some hockey. quite frankly, neither one of them excited me much. i was happy to see Boston lose though.

a quick hello to the muse, i do hope your allergies subside and life gets a little easier for you this evening. best of luck finding some new music.

the Yankees had a chance today to win the series against Tampa. and seeing that it was Old Timers' Day, i was feeling pretty good. of course, the offense the Yankees had found in the previous 2 wins didn't show up today. hell, i think the old timers had more offense actually. but, that's Yankee baseball in 2013, where nostalgia meets apathy. a day off tomorrow before a series with Texas.

i did watch a good bit of soccer this weekend. the Confederations Cup is down to a pretty good final four. Brazil vs. Uruguay and Italy vs. Spain. that will be some must see television coming up in a few days.

not exactly sure what i'll be watching tonight other than Veep. i suppose i might watch the guy trying to walk across the Grand Canyon, or i just might go write instead. not sure.

i do hope everyone has had a great weekend.

on some days you just open the windows and let the wind flow

the weather today has been about as close to perfect as it can be for a June in Ohio. low 70's, hardly any humidity, no pollen flying through the air, a gentle breeze most of the day; the kind of day i'd love to bottle and have all the time. and of course, i spent a good part of it indoors doing my laundry. welcome to my life.

got my package from amazon.com today. so there will be plenty of new music listened to in the next few days.

the Yankees offense finally came to life last night. the bullpen picked up for the starters finally and the Yankees won, 7-4. hopefully a good streak will start before too long.

i did watch a good bit of The Voice last night. my 3 potential winners are Danielle, Sasha, and Michelle, in that order. i'll be interested to see who goes this evening. all the performances were pretty damn close to each other, so it could be anyone.

and thankfully The Voice is only 1 hour this evening, so i will get to Deadliest Catch without missing anything.

i enjoyed Monday Night Raw last night for the most part. well, let me clarify. i enjoyed Daniel Bryan last night. to work 2 big matches and be the star of both of them was absolutely great. he's quickly moving up the ranks of my favorites of all time. i still think 3 hours is too long for a live show, but i do like that they are willing to have longer matches now on television. something that actually lasts longer than one commercial break. and so far (fingers crossed) the majority of these matches have been with guys who can bring it in an entertaining style.

i might have watched 30 seconds of the Bruins destroying Pittsburgh last night. if Boston wins it all, i guess i can take comfort in knowing the New York Rangers lost to the Stanley Cup Champions.

and finally, i did watch most of the second half of the Heat taking the Pacers out behind the woodshed and reminding them who wears the pants in the family. i think the Heat will repeat as champions as i don't think the Spurs can keep up with them when they are clicking on all cylinders.

i'm shooting for later this week to send out some poems and perhaps break out the watercolors once again and let my insanity do some painting.

that's all for now. peace and chicken grease.
