a delightful trip into the dark mind of an evil genius or simply the musings of an asshole

i almost had a feeling that the New York Rangers were going to find a way yesterday to stay alive in the playoff chase. i quickly saw how foolish that thought was after the first 40 minutes. they lost at Carolina yesterday, 7-3. that eliminates them from the chance to make the playoffs. they are the 4th team to win the President's trophy the previous year and miss the playoffs the next. the Rangers have actually done that twice now. the last time they did it, they won the Stanley Cup the next season. oh, if only history could fucking repeat itself.
i heard back from Cristina at Synchronized Chaos on my earlier poetry submission. my poems "but not concerned", "the proverbial ditch", "here come the rainbows", "fighting to breathe" and "the baseball cards are collecting dust" have been accepted for publication.
i was up at 6:30 this morning, in pain as usual. after i took my blood sugar, i got some ice and got in my massage chair. i think i got a good 90 minute nap in. that helped a great deal.
the Yankees lost last night at home to the Giants, 9-1, in 6 rain soaked innings. hopefully, they will play better today.
i just sent out 11 poems... 3 each to The Beatnik Cowboy and Misfit Magazine; 5 to Synchronized Chaos. when i hear back from these places i will pass along the verdicts.
so, i guess i really needed some sleep last night as i just completely passed out in my massage chair around 12:15. i woke up at 3:53 and was shocked. i didn't even do mom's eyes before she fell asleep. i apologized to her this morning about that. as usual, i'm guessing it was the gin.

so, after i did the dishes at 3 in the morning... i woke up from a nap while watching AEW... the rain was just enough last night to get my arthritis going to the point where the pain just shut my body off. between the pain, alcohol, etc. i was either in a deep sleep or partially dead. now, it was only for 45 minutes, but it certainly felt longer.

the Yankees won yesterday at Detroit, 4-3. they are off today and start a series tomorrow night at home against San Francisco.
mom did me no favors by staying up all night. i was hoping to get the grocery shopping done and be back here, etc. etc. instead, she fell asleep when i woke up this morning at 6:30 AM. she thinks she might have cancer. she also thinks she is dying. fun times.

i am a very competitive person. and now that sports gambling is legal, i can put my money where my mouth is. now, i don't have fuck you money to gamble with, but i also stay true to the golden rule... only gamble what you are willing to lose. i did get the national title game last night between Florida and Houston right. i won two different groups on ESPN.com with that bracket. i went 47-16 in the tournament. that is my best record in years. apparently, putting money on it makes me a little more intense on getting shit right. that might be the only thing i worry about with my sports gambling. i am a perfectionist at heart.
i did watch Alex Ovechkin break Wayne Gretzky's goal scoring record yesterday when he scored his 895th goal. to me, the best part of the game was that the Capitals lost, 4-1.
honestly, i never thought the goals record in hockey was ever going to fall. Alex Ovechkin just need one goal to set the new record.
the rain started yesterday when i went to Kroger to pick up some prescriptions. it is now close to noon the next day and it hasn't stopped. fun times.

when it rains like it has for the last couple of days, i basically know i am not going to get any good sleep. so, i basically live off of the three hours at night, a few naps here and there, etc. last night, i tried to write some poems and have that make me sleepy. after i typed up the 4 i wrote, sleep really didn't come. joy.

we had some thunderstorms last night, a couple tornado warnings, plenty of fucking wind, but no damage that i could see this morning. of course, i slept like shit, as usual. mom wanted me to wake her up this morning at 9 so she could call her accountant and tell him she wouldn't be coming in today. i guess i will bring him the taxes when she is done with everything. if my mother has mastered one thing in her life... procrastination.
the Yankees lost last night at home to Arizona, 4-3. they will hopefully avoid the sweep tonight.
i was saddened last night when i saw that Val Kilmer had died. one of those sneaky actors that could do anything and was in so many of my favorite movies.
