i am slowly realizing i have to get more than 4 hours of sleep to actually function. sadly, it's not always possible. but, i figure if i manage to get 5 hours, i should be fine. i figure this is all a recipe to be dead by 50.
i got up this morning and shaved and showered. i figured that's a good start for a Monday. i had to go to the grocery store to pick up my medications and a couple things mom forgot to put on the grocery list on Friday.
i wrote 9 poems while mom had physical therapy today. i'll type those up sometime tonight i guess. mom's therapy on her shoulder is going really well. she has two more sessions and she'll be done.
i didn't have a chance to watch The Case Against Adnan Syed yet. i'm planning on watching that tonight, hopefully.
WWE Fastlane was pretty good last night.
Total Bellas was good last night.
the season finale of Shameless last night was excellent. i'm sad Emmy Rossum is leaving the show, but Fiona will be remembered forever.
Black Monday was really funny last night.
SMILF was good last night.
the series finale of Crashing was really good last night.
High Maintenance was excellent last night. their season finale is next week.
Last Week Tonight was fucking great, as usual.
Aretha! A Grammy Celebration for the Queen of Soul was excellent. i watched that this afternoon.

i woke up with a terrible headache this morning. i'm not sure if it was the alcohol (not likely) or the massive cold front that moved through the area last night. plus, the clocks got moved forward a hour. anywho, i felt like something bad was going to happen today and sure enough...
i really wanted Manchester United to take the momentum they got in Paris and have it travel with them today when they faced Arsenal. sadly, it didn't. instead, United had the letdown that i feared was coming. they simply were not clinical in the final third of the pitch when they needed to be. add in some shitty officiating, and you have yourselves a 2-0 loss. not exactly how i wanted to start my Sunday. this will be a good test for Ole to see how the team responds from this.
the Dayton Flyers won last night at Duquesne, 78-67. they finished the regular season with a record of 21-10. that's 7 games better than last season. they are the 3 seed in the A10 Tournament, which means they won't play again until Friday night.
the New York Rangers scored 4 straight goals last night to defeat New Jersey, 4-2.
the New York Yankees won last night over Baltimore, 6-1. they have a split squad today playing against the Pirates and Tigers.
Saturday Night Live was pretty funny last night.
ROH was pretty good last night.

we didn't get much snow yesterday, but holy fuck it got cold. i believe the windchill for most of today was below 0 at all times. that made for a fun walk in the parking lot at mom's physical therapy. i guess it's supposed to be like this all week. joy.
i wrote 12 poems today. i'll type them up sometime tonight or tomorrow morning. i guess they told mom they can't do much for her back anymore. they are concentrating on her shoulder now. i know she gets her next injection in her back in a month.
i did watch part 1 of Leaving Neverland last night. as someone who was molested at a young age, it was very tough to watch at times. seeing the faxes that Michael Jackson sent the kid in Australia and the jewelry he bought for the kid in California, that really drove it home to me that they are telling the truth. i'll watch part 2 tonight and then the interview with Oprah sometime tonight. i'm not expecting part 2 to be any easier to watch.
Total Bellas was good last night.
Crashing was pretty good last night. the season finale is next week.
High Maintenance was hilarious last night.
Last Week Tonight was fucking great as usual.
Shameless was great last night. the season finale next week should be amazing.

so i know celebrity deaths usually come in 3's, but today was pretty ridiculous. i first saw that Ted Lindsay died. i knew of him because of my love for hockey. then, i saw the news about Keith Flint, lead singer of The Prodigy. his suicide broke my damn heart. they were absolutely one of my favorite electronic bands ever. and then, i saw that Luke Perry died from his massive stroke at just 52.
so you can imagine what theme most of the poems were about today.
i will probably be on here tomorrow after a trip to get some money out of the bank for mom and picking up her medications. that will be fun to do in the fucking cold.
i hope everyone had a great weekend.

it started snowing around 10 this morning. i believe it's supposed to stop around 10 tonight. i have no clue if it actually will though. it doesn't look like it's sticking to the road or the sidewalk, so i hope that stays like that.
the New York Rangers lost today to Washington in the shootout, 3-2. it was one of the crazier finishes i have ever seen. the Rangers backup goalie threw his stick at Ovechkin in the shootout and the on ice officials must not have seen it well enough to actually know what happened, since the officials in Toronto had to actually make the call that it was an awarded goal. just fucking crazy.
i did watch some of the MLS last night.

today was the NHL trade deadline day. i did expect the New York Rangers to make some moves and they did. they traded Kevin Hayes to Winnipeg for a 1st round pick, a conditional 4th round pick (if the Jets win the Stanley Cup) and Claude Lemieux's son, Brendan. if he plays anything like his father, i'm going to enjoy seeing that kind of asshole playing for the Rangers. the Rangers traded Adam McQuaid to Columbus for a prospect and two draft picks (4th and 7th round, 2019). i honestly didn't expect them to get that much for Adam, so i am pleased. it will be interesting to see how the team plays the rest of the season now that the deadline has passed. hopefully, they get some good players with those draft picks, sign the right free agents in the summer and the rebuild doesn't last nearly as long as i feared it would.

i did go to the Dayton Flyers game yesterday. thank god Dayton's cold spell came in the first half. they battled back in the last 3 minutes of the first half to take the lead into halftime. and thankfully, they played much better in the second half. they greatly improved their odds of finishing in the top 4 of the conference and getting a first round bye in the A10 tournament. Dayton beat Saint Louis 70-62.
the New York Rangers won yesterday against the Devils, 5-2. after the game, they traded one of my favorite Rangers ever, Mats Zuccarello, to Dallas for draft picks. now, i have to root for Dallas to do well and for Mats to sign there so both the picks will become first round picks. the Rangers lost today at Washington, 6-5 in OT. i do expect the Rangers to make a few more trades before the deadline tomorrow.
ROH was really good last night.
the New York Yankees lost yesterday to Boston and won today against Tampa Bay. hopefully, i will be in the mood for baseball when the season starts.
i did not sleep well at all last night. i got up this morning and realized i had missed the first 30 minutes of the Manchester United game. United had to use all 3 subs in the first half today because of injuries. fucking crazy. even more crazy was United held Liverpool to only 1 shot for the entire game. incredible defending by a group that can't play defense. final score was 0-0. considering United played most of the game with 10 1/2 men because of Marcus Rashford being injured and not being able to be subbed off, i am so fucking proud of them today. i would have loved a victory, but their effort today was unreal.

i doubt i watch any of the Academy Awards tonight. i haven't seen any of the movies, so i couldn't give two shits.
mom has physical therapy tomorrow afternoon, so i will be on here after that.
i often joke about how i will sleep when i am dead. today is one of those days when it is no fucking joke. i got to bed at 5 this morning and was up a little after 9. took mom to her 2 appointments today, wrote 11 poems while waiting at physical therapy and now i'm trying to get a blog done before wrestling comes on. i figure at some point, exhaustion will set in. or maybe not.
the New York Rangers lost yesterday at Pittsburgh 6-5. it was an entertaining game, and i couldn't give two shits if the Rangers win or lose anymore this season. my mind is more fixed on who are they going to trade at the trade deadline 7 days from now.
WWE Elimination Chamber was really good last night. i love who they made the first female tag team champions. i love that Finn Balor won the Intercontinental championship. i love that The Miz and Shane lost the Smackdown tag team titles, and i absolutely loved Daniel Bryan keeping the WWE Championship. Kofi Kingston was amazing again in the main event. and i fucking love that The Man showed up and beat the shit out of Charlotte and Ronda Rousey.
Total Bellas was pretty good last night.
True Detective was great last night. i fucking can't wait for the season finale next week.
Crashing was good last night.
High Maintenance was excellent last night.
Last Week Tonight was fucking hilarious as usual. so happy that the show is back.
Shameless was really good last night, especially the ending.
Black Monday was really, really good last night.
SMILF was better than usual last night.

nothing on the DVR tonight. i'll be watching Monday Night Raw for most of the evening.
i didn't get to see any of the game, but Manchester United did defeat Chelsea today, 2-0 in the FA Cup. Ole is the first manager to win at Chelsea since Sir Alex. this puts United in the quarterfinals against Wolves. that won't be an easy trip. i do love the response from the team after losing to PSG. next will be a match at home against Liverpool.
it snowed for most of today. thankfully, it didn't really accumulate.
i will be on here hopefully before Dayton plays at Davidson tomorrow. mom has a scan tomorrow that is supposed to take maybe 3 hours or so. this is to check what her MRI showed. i'm hoping it goes well and we don't have a fucking cancer scare to deal with now. good times.

i spent most of yesterday in my massage chair, trying to loosen up my neck. eventually, i did get it loose, but of course, my back was then hurting. it never fails. i got both calmed down enough to get about 5 hours of sleep last night. good times.
i turned off the Dayton Flyers game yesterday when they were down by 22 against VCU. i did follow the score and when Dayton started making their comeback, i never turned back to the game. superstition was running the show now. Dayton did come all the way back but of course, ended up losing to VCU, 69-68. that pretty much eliminates Dayton from having a chance to win the conference now. so, i guess the goal will be to finish in the top 4. that should be doable, even though you can tell they badly miss Trey Landers. and given the brace he was wearing on his shoulder yesterday, i have no clue when he will be back.
i did watch most of the NBA All-Star Saturday Night festivities. the slam dunk contest was better than the last few years. i loved that Steph Curry lost the 3 point shootout and i always love when a big man wins the skills competition.
Saturday Night Live was pretty good last night.
ROH was very good last night.

i finally send out the poems i talked about last week. i sent out 22 poems earlier today. 3 each to Red Eft Review and The Beatnik Cowboy; 5 each to Synchronized Chaos (already accepted) and Fourth & Sycamore; 6 poems to Record Magazine. when i hear back from these places, i will pass along the verdicts.
i also wrote 12 poems today while mom was doing her physical therapy. i'll probably type those up sometime tonight.
the New York Rangers won last night over Toronto, 4-1. the story of the game was the Rangers backup goalie stopping 55 fucking shots on his 23rd birthday.
the Grammy Awards were pretty good last night. a little long, but pretty good.
True Detective was fucking great last night.
Crashing was pretty funny last night.
High Maintenance was great last night.
Shameless was excellent last night.

thankfully, i got the paper this morning before it started to snow. we're only supposed to get a couple inches of snow. and then maybe some ice tonight. and then it all turns to rain tomorrow. that should do wonders for the flooding in the area. thankfully, mom doesn't have physical therapy until the afternoon tomorrow.
the Dayton Flyers took Rhode Island out behind the barn yesterday and beat the living shit out of them. when i turned on the game after i got the blog done yesterday, Dayton was up 15-0. holy shit. after the game the coach said he emphasized to the players they needed to start fast. what a fucking concept. maybe try that with every game. Dayton won yesterday 77-48. they are off until Saturday when they take on VCU at home. i'm hoping i actually get to go to that game.
Won't You Be My Neighbor was excellent last night. seeing all those old clips of Mr. Rogers certainly brought back some memories.

i did watch a little bit of Manchester City destroying Chelsea this morning. i think City won 6-0. that means Manchester United is now in 4th place in the Premier League. i'm not sure how Ole isn't going to get the permanent role of manager at United now. especially if the club does great in the next few weeks (PSG, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester City, etc.) i would have to believe the job is his.
now i have a decision to make. catch up on sleep or send some poems out before the Grammy Awards start tonight. knowing me, i'll probably take a book out with me to my massage chair, start reading and fall asleep.
i guess you'll know by tomorrow's blog what happened. i hope everyone had a great Saturday. i hope your Sunday is even better.
well, i hope the NFL is happy, because that shitty Super Bowl last night was exactly what they fucking deserved for fucking over the Saints. and the even funnier part to me was the Rams losing to the Patriots, 13-3, which also happened to be the Saints record this past season. and honestly, the commercials were only a little better than the game. i wish i was in New Orleans yesterday. they had a good time:
True Detective last night was really good.

i did get to the bank today. after that, i had to go pick up some pills for mom.
i wrote 7 poems while she was doing her physical therapy today. i will type those up probably late tonight.
i'll probably be on here tomorrow after mom's doctor's appointment. i believe this is the one to get the ball rolling on them doing something with her shoulder.
i hope everyone had a great weekend. all the snow is basically gone from here now. a couple days in the 50's and some rain will do that.

i'm still not quite over the refs fucking over the New Orleans Saints, especially since today is Super Bowl Sunday. i do plan on watching most of the game, mostly so i can bitch about both teams and hopefully enjoy some commercials.
i did watch the Dayton Flyers game yesterday. it's probably a good thing i didn't go. i would have either had a heart attack or been arrested at the game. Dayton made a huge comeback to beat Duquesne yesterday, 68-64. Dayton's lone senior didn't play the last 17:59 of the game, all because the coach decided not to play him. the number of times i implored the team to ignore their coach yesterday was in the hundreds. Dayton plays its best when it is out and running. their coach wants them to slow the ball down and squeeze every possession like its the last one you will ever have. it's obvious he doesn't understand the concept of imposing your will on the other team. plus, it's fucking impossible to ask 18 to 22 year old men to think while playing a game. it's obvious Coach Grant doesn't understand that humans are creatures of instinct. thought doesn't come into the picture. and the only reason Dayton won yesterday was the fact that Duquesne had absolutely no one that could stop Obi Toppin.
after that, i watched some of the USA vs. Costa Rica men's soccer friendly. the USA won 2-0.
during the second half of the game, i went and got a haircut. i was in and out and got back home to see the last 10 minutes of the game. i like the haircut and with the temperatures rising, i should feel a little better.
WWE Worlds Collide last night was good.
Celebrity Big Brother was good last night.
the New York Rangers lost to Tampa Bay last night, 3-2. i didn't watch any of the game.
the Foo Fighters concert last night was fucking amazing. 2 1/2 hours of me playing air guitar and just loving it.
Austin City Limits was excellent last night.
ROH was really good last night.
so i thought i'd be a good boy and check my email last night. when i got that done, it was nearly 4 in the morning. i went to go take my pill i take before bed, but i dropped it. i went to pick it up and sure enough, i hit my head on the corner of the desk by my window. of course, there was blood. i got that stopped before i went to sleep. good times.

on the DVR tonight will be True Detective, Crashing and High Maintenance. i'll watch WWE Halftime Heat on WWE Network during halftime of the Super Bowl.
so i got up this morning and Manchester United was already winning 1-0. that is how it stayed for the rest of the game. that's 10 straight unbeaten for United. they are now in 5th place, just 2 points out of 4th.
i did hear back from AuthorsPress in India on the poem i sent them back in November 2018. the poem was not included in the anthology i submitted it for, but they are going to use it in one of their literary journals.
i'm not sure when i will be on here tomorrow. mom has physical therapy in the afternoon and i know i want to go to the bank in the morning. so, probably late in the afternoon on Monday i guess.
best of luck to everyone gambling on the Super Bowl today.

the Royal Rumble was good last night, but long as hell and has thrown everything in my life (television watching, etc) into fucking chaos. i had to get sleep last night as i needed to make sure i got mom to her appointment today to get the injection for her osteoporosis. so, that meant i only watched a couple of the Sunday night shows last night and had to catch up today. and then for some fucking reason, people find it necessary to email me constantly...
anyway, let's get this dog and pony show on the road...
i did write 12 poems this afternoon in the waiting room while mom was getting her injection. i have no damn clue when i will type them up.
the Royal Rumble was very good, just too fucking long. i believe between the pre-show and post show special on WWE Network, i watched 8 hours straight of wrestling. but, the people i wanted to win the Rumble matches did (Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins) so i'm pretty happy.
Total Bellas was pretty good last night.
Celebrity Big Brother was crazy last night.
