so, i was supposed to take mom to physical therapy today. after that, she was going to get her bloodwork done. i made that appointment late last night. while she was getting ready this morning, she started feeling sick. and then she had a hard time standing up, even with her walker. so, i had to cancel all the appointments and i gave her a cold washcloth and told her to go to sleep. i'm trying to figure out if it was her rushing this morning that got her sick or was it all she tried to do yesterday and that made her sick today. good times. and now throw in some medical shit with my sister and you can imagine my stress level today.
the Dayton Flyers defeated Virginia Tech yesterday, 62-57. i loved the way Dayton played defense yesterday and when they can actually make shots, they could compete with just about anyone in the country. that being said, they have already proven they can lose to anyone in the country as well. but, this was a huge victory for them.
the New Orleans Saints defeated the New York Jets yesterday, 30-9. i'm so happy that fucking losing streak is over now.
the New York Rangers lost to Nashville last night, 1-0. just one of those games where the goalie steals one.

Manchester United was supposed to play tomorrow afternoon, but that game has been postponed since United are going through a COVID outbreak at the moment. i did see the Champions League fiasco this morning. United got the better draw the second time around.
i hope everyone had a great weekend.

maybe this is becoming my new normal for Mondays. going to bed sometime around the sun coming up and being up less than 3 hours later to put the coffee on. and then another power nap in the late morning and boom, tackle the rest of the day. i did go grocery shopping today. i found everything, between two different stores, that i needed to get for Thanksgiving. my sister will be down here tomorrow night. we should have plenty if she brings everything she said she was going to.
so, yesterday was a bit crazy. first off, let me start with the bad news. the New Orleans Saints lost to the Eagles yesterday, 40-29. honestly, it never even felt that close. the Saints play at home on Thanksgiving night against Buffalo. oh joy.
now, some better news. the New York Rangers defeated the Buffalo Sabres last night, 5-4. the wining goal was scored with less than 1 second left in the game. good times.
WWE Survivor Series was pretty good last night.
the season finale of BMF was good last night.
Power Book II: Ghost was very good last night.

and your whatever the fuck i wanted you to see video of the day:
so, i guess i'll start at where we left off yesterday...
Manchester United played like shit yesterday at Watford. i turned the game off when United went down 2-0. thank god i did as they lost the game 4-1. i got a news alert later in the day that the board at Manchester United had an emergency meeting in the afternoon to FINALLY sack Ole. they made it official this morning. Michael Carrick will be the manager for the next few games, at least until they hire an interim manager. i have no damn clue who that is going to be or who is going to get the job permanently. all i know is all the great managers are already taken or already said they aren't interested. so yeah, once again the whole fucking club is a circus. good times.
so, i got to see Ohio State's first possession yesterday. when they scored against Michigan State, i left to go to the Dayton game. by the time i got in the parking lot at UD Arena, Ohio State was up 21-0. they ended up winning the game, 56-7. that sets up a monster game next week against that school up north. i can't wait.
when the Dayton Flyers had an 8 point lead at halftime yesterday, i looked at the guy next to me and said i don't know what to do when we have a halftime lead. he laughed. little did we know, we were about to see yet another fucking loss. Dayton pissed away a 12 point second half lead and lost to Austin Peay, 87-81. i loved that Dayton played more aggressively defensively yesterday, but in the end, they don't know how to play 40 minutes of basketball yet. and they just went 1-3 against the "easy" part of their schedule. now, comes a tournament down in Orlando where i won't be surprised if Dayton comes back home 1-6. that would be their worst start to the season since i was in high school in a season where they only won 4 games total.
i had to get gas after the game and mom wanted me to get her some food. when i got home, i noticed that she had moved a bunch of shit around in the kitchen. i noticed the rocking chair, that was in the living room was now in the kitchen as well. i asked how she did that while using her walker and she just smiled. then i watched her try to walk around the kitchen and she was struggling. now comes the joy of having a quick temper. i got her walker and slammed it down in front of her and told her to fucking use it. it was in a voice that probably could be heard throughout the neighborhood. i love that she lets me go to these games, to get out of the house and do something with my life. but, i am not fucking interested in coming home and finding her dead on the floor because she thought she could walk around the house without assistance.
Saturday Night Live was really good last night.
Austin City Limits was excellent last night.

the New Orleans Saints play at the Eagles today. hopefully, the boys can get a road win today.
our Thanksgiving plans have been changed. the cousin my sister was going to bring me back some food from found out that she has COVID. so, i'm going out tomorrow to try to find everything for here at the house. a small turkey breast, some ribs, rolls, mashed potatoes, etc. my sister is coming down on Tuesday i believe. she'll be bringing the stuff she's making and her friend's dog as well. her friend is going to Finland for Thanksgiving. i'm not a big fan of the dog, so i'm not really looking forward to this now.
i should be on here tomorrow after i get all the stuff from the grocery stores.

so, the snow we got yesterday fucked up the satellite for most of the day. i was able to get the Sunday Ticket package on the television via the app, but that was well into the afternoon by the time i got that going. the Saints lost to the Titans yesterday, 23-21. two missed extra points, too many penalties, too many referee fuck ups, etc. etc. etc. that's two damn weeks in a row the Saints lost a game they should have won.
the New York Rangers defeated the Devils last night, 4-3 in a shootout. the shootout went 7 rounds. i was very happy the Rangers got both points. i am still fucking furious that P.K. Subban injured another fucking Rangers player. if the league won't punish him, hopefully someone makes sure he leaves the ice on a stretcher one of these days.

i can't remember the last time we had a real snowfall before Thanksgiving. i checked my phone this morning and saw that the snow was getting ready to start. so, i got my ass out there and got the paper before it started snowing too bad. add in a good breeze and the shit is coming sideways. welcome to winter.
so, do i start with the good or the bad today. fuck it, let me change it up and start with the good.
i did get to see the first quarter or so of the Ohio State game yesterday. when i left, Ohio State was up 28-7. they ended up winning the game over Perdue, 59-31. hopefully, that is how they will play for the rest of the season.
the New York Rangers won in Columbus last night, defeating the Blue Jackets, 5-3. they are home tonight, playing against the Devils.
and now comes the negative. the Dayton Flyers, an 18 point favorite in the game, lost to UMass Lowell, 59-58, last night. Dayton played way too slow, had way too many turnovers and couldn't get off a good shot when it mattered. either the team doesn't know the offense yet, or worse, the opponents know the offense better than Dayton does. Coach Grant begged for the fans to stick with the team and stressed how young they are, etc. but, when there is no consistent effort and the coach refuses to switch up lineups or defenses or the plays, my fears are getting closer to reality. this "team" hasn't found a way to play better than their opponents yet. and when you lose a game like that, you can kiss any post season basketball away unless that is going to be your only bad loss of the season. and trust me, it won't be.
Saturday Night Live was pretty good last night.

the weather today was fucking perfect. so perfect, i opened some windows and took a long fucking nap. of course, i was running on 3 hours of sleep, so i really needed it.
the New Orleans Saints lost to Atlanta yesterday, 27-25. between all the dropped passes and mistakes the Saints made, i was fucking pissed for nearly the whole game. they made a huge comeback in the 4th quarter, but of course, pissed that away as well. as Duece said after the game, the Saints beat themselves.
here are your NBA highlights from last night:

i did remember to turn back the clocks last night. sometime today, i'll get around to checking the smoke detectors.
i did do a little poetry work last night. watch out for another blog post this afternoon about the poems i'm sending out later today.
Ohio State defeated Nebraska yesterday, 26-17. i hated that they never really tried to establish the running game. that nearly cost them the game against a team that really, is only good enough to cover the spread and that's it.
i did watch a few other games yesterday while doing my laundry.
the New York Rangers had their asses handed to them last night in Calgary, losing 6-0. as the coach said after the game, at least we're done playing Calgary this season.
Saturday Night Live was pretty funny last night.

so, in hindsight, i am happy that i got the blog done yesterday before Manchester United played. if i would have done the blog after the match against Liverpool, i would probably be in jail right now. United got humiliated at home by Liverpool, 5-0. i turned the game off after 3-0 as i was already in enough pain from the weather. i should feel surprised that the manager hasn't been fired yet, but i'm not. the owners of Manchester United are imbeciles and have no interest in actually winning. they want to own the club to make money and that's it. now, the British media is having fun announcing all the potential candidates for the job; Antonio Conte, Zinedine Zidane, etc. i would take either compared to Ole at the moment.
to be honest, i have been stuck in first gear since that game. i'm hoping the games tonight (Saints and Rangers) snap me out of it.

i got my order of baseball cards from Etsy.com today. they were supposed to be all before 1979 and thankfully, they were. the cards were from 1960 to 1976. all were decent and i am very happy with the purchase. here is a link to the place i got the cards from:
it started raining last night, seemingly right after i took a shower. it eventually stopped. but of course, it is raining again this morning. i managed to get the paper before it started to rain, thankfully.
Manchester United takes on Liverpool today. this is the one game that i will be brutally fucking pissed if United loses. now, those assholes over there are the better team and better coached. so, i'm hoping CR7 has something magical in store today and United pulls off one to remember.
the New York Rangers were losing 2-0 yesterday in Ottawa with 6 minutes to go in the 3rd period. the Rangers had never won a game in this scenario in the entire history of the franchise. well, scratch that off the fucking list. the Rangers scored 3 goals in a little over 3 minutes to defeat Ottawa yesterday, 3-2. they swept the road trip and are off to their best start in years. they play tomorrow night at home against Calgary.
Ohio State beat the shit out of Indiana last night, 54-7. and to be honest, after the first quarter, it wasn't even that close.

i hope everyone had a great Saturday. i hope your Sunday is even better.
thanks again to everyone for checking out my latest published poem:
it felt really nice out today. i had my sunglasses on and how i just wish it could be like this year round. upper 60's in the day, 40's at night.
i went to the post office today to mail out some baseball cards to the west coast. postage has gone up a little, but hopefully the cards get there by the end of the week. after that, i went to the bank. of course, the bank i normally go to was closed for some fucking reason. i went to the next town over, mostly because i had to pick up some pills for my mother and another branch of the bank isn't that far away. i made that deposit and then went to Kroger. i can't believe how much they have changed the store around in just a few days. after that, i went back home. this is the kind of day where i wish i could just sleep all day long.
i kind of was in and out of a few football games yesterday. i did see a couple of crazy overtimes.
