i had to drive out to my mother's ATM, which is about 15 minutes away or so. anytime i drive, the pinched nerve in my right arm goes crazy. and sadly, there isn't a damn place where i can put it where it won't throb. on top of that, the skies were darkening, so my arthritis was jumping for joy. and on these kind of days, my back pain is just a constant reminder that i earned this pain. of course, mom wanted Taco Bell for lunch today. that was fun sitting in that line for almost 30 minutes. joy.
the New York Yankees won last night at Baltimore, 9-6. hopefully, they will win again tonight.
the series finale of Divorce was okay. i expected a little bit more from it, but it just had the feeling that everyone was tired of the show.
Monday Night Raw was really good last night. i thought it did a great job setting up SummerSlam this weekend.

i didn't get out of bed today until after 10 this morning. i wish i could say i was sleeping that entire time, but that's not fucking true. with no music or a fan on as background noise, it's back to talking myself to sleep. and since i got the dates for my 25th high school reunion, all those faces are now showing up in my dreams. good times.

now, i know it's a rhetorical question, mostly because the asshole that runs this country is fucking stupid and doesn't give two shits about anything other than himself, but how the hell do you pull a Ron Burgundy and simply read the teleprompter (clearly against your will) and say prayers for the shooting victims in Toledo, about 150 miles away from where the mass shooting in Dayton happened? i really hope his own staff is fucking with him, hoping the 25th amendment gets invoked so this shit show can be over, but i doubt that's the case. if the asshole has to be the smartest guy in the room, i can just imagine the fucking idiots he surrounds himself with. i did love what one person said online, how he said Toledo because he was hedging his bets on when a mass shooting happens there.
after seeing more about the asshole that killed 9 in the Oregon District, i think it's clear he's one of these fucking Incel assholes. he had a hit list, a rape list as well when he was in high school. i'm really happy the Dayton police put out the video of them killing him when he was trying to get in the bar to kill more people. now, i didn't need to have the candlelight vigil last night interrupt most of Big Brother, but i understand. between the KKK rally, the tornadoes and now this shit, i think this area just needs a fucking break.
i did write a poem today, mostly about all this shit. i typed it up and i think it's really good. i'll probably include it with some other poems when i send out the first poetry submissions of the month later this week.
the New York Yankees completed the sweep of Boston last night with a 7-4 victory. it was good to hear the Who's Your Daddy? chants once again. the Yankees start a series tonight at Baltimore.
the season finale of Euphoria last night was great, heartbreaking, exciting, etc. etc. i can't fucking wait to see what season 2 brings.
Last Week Tonight was brilliant as usual.
City on a Hill was good last night, and then had a holy shit ending. loved it.
i got to see maybe the first minute of Big Brother and then maybe the last 45 seconds or so of the show. i know that Jessica is the HOH. i know she nominated Jack and Michie. Jessica also won the POV and didn't use it, which means one of the alpha males is going to be the first member of the jury house.

i tried sleeping in my bed last night, but the pinched nerve in my arm had different plans. so, i got 2 hours of sleep in my massage chair and maybe another 3 hours of naps so far today. joy. i heard back from the doctor's office. they told me to ice, stretch and rest my arm. i started to laugh when i read that this morning. do they honestly think i haven't been doing that shit already? i hate being the cranky old man these days, but fuck, the world won't allow anything different.
Monday Night Raw was fucking crazy last night. the last half hour or so reminded me of the genius of Paul Heyman. it was light years better than the show the week before.

here in the house of apathy, especially on these hot summer days, mom tends to sleep all day. 2 hours here and there. i'll be guilty of taking a few naps while icing my back down. of course, what it truly means, is we'll both be up around 3 in the morning, bitching about not being able to sleep. i mentioned to her earlier today, perhaps we're just vampires and don't know it. she returned with and we've never met the right people to know it for sure. i'm guessing she was half-asleep while she said that. we're supposed to get some storms tonight to break this humidity. i'll believe it when i see it.
i did contact my doctor today about the pinched nerve in my right arm. so now the waiting game is on. and i told them the GI doctor i want to go to, which isn't the one they referred me to. so, i'm interested to see when i get an email back from them.
the New York Yankees won last night over Boston, 9-6. they finally got some decent pitching on the same night the offense showed up. what a concept. they are off tonight. they start a home series tomorrow night at home against Arizona.

i took mom out shopping today. it had been months since we had been to Menards. she had some rebates to use and i had a list of shit we needed. we found most of what we were looking for. after that, we went to Waffle House. she needed a place where she could sit and relax for a bit.

Divorce was good last night.
Desus & Mero was fucking hilarious last night.

it started to storm last night right as the finale of Big Little Lies started. fuck. i scrambled to set the DVR to record the airing later in the night, hoping the storm would be over by then. thankfully, it was.
the finale of Big Little Lies was really good. the way it ended, it certainly left the door open for season 3. and honestly, if Nicole Kidman, Meryl Streep or Laura Dern don't win something for this season, it's a crime.
Euphoria was excellent last night.
City on a Hill was really good last night.
Big Brother was pretty good last night. i've caught up on the feeds, so i'm basically a show ahead of what they show on television now. i don't think people are really going to be happy with Cliff by Thursday.
the New York Yankees lost to Colorado yesterday, 8-4. i saw a stat after the game that they haven't won a game this month that James Paxton has started. they are 10-2 when someone else starts. interesting. they start a series tonight at Minnesota. could be a potential playoff preview. hopefully, they will destroy the Twins.
since the Yankees were playing like shit yesterday, i watched most of the Hall of Fame ceremonies.
the Red Scare lost to Carmen's Crew yesterday in The Basketball Tournament, 85-71. they simply just ran out of steam in the second half. hopefully, they will have a team again next season and have more players as well.

i hope everyone had a great weekend.
mom made biscuits and gravy for breakfast this morning. i then watched her stubborn ass try to get the biscuits out of the oven with just one hand and proceeded to dump them off the tray and on to the bottom of the oven. i walked over and watched her pick all of them up with tongs. i then said i will make sure in your eulogy to make sure people understand why i am a stubborn asshole. i told her not to complain to me today when her back is killing her when all she had to do was ask for help. this is why i refer to life as a circle. all of us eventually find the end of that circle. not many of us do it with any fucking grace.
i have no clue when i will be on here tomorrow. i really need to get to Menards soon to get some suet for the birds and everything else that has been put on the list for the last few months.

i could feel the rain coming in my bones when i was in the grocery store. thankfully, it didn't start to rain until i was on my way home.
i didn't sleep worth a fuck last night. i went to bed at 3 AM and was up a little after 7 AM. joy. i managed to get a couple naps in before i had to get all my shopping done this afternoon.
first up was the bank, where i needed to make a deposit. apparently i go there enough now that the woman behind the counter knows my name. just down the road from the bank is Office Depot. apparently, they only had some windows blown out from the tornado. i need to get some ink for the printer, some bags for the shredder and some cleaning duster. i was hoping they were going to have some different kinds of mats for my computer chair, but i wasn't going to pay $50 for just a newer version of what i already have. after i found everything, it was on to the grocery store. mom forgot to tell me her expensive pills were in this batch. plus, she had to get some new eye drops for her eyes. all told, when it came up to $170 i was a little stunned. thank god i have good credit. she also wanted me to pick up some chicken for dinner tonight and some gravy. my right arm was going crazy while i was in the store. i got a little cart to put the stuff in and of course, since my right arm was slightly bent, the nerve pain was shooting like crazy. joy.
now, once i get this blog done, i have to get all the trash picked up here and next door. hopefully, it won't be raining while that is happening.
the New York Yankees were one strike away last night from a very good come from behind victory. of course, then Chapman hung a fucking slider to the Tampa player who already had 2 home runs in the game. so, the Yankees lost 5-4. i'm interested to see how they respond tonight. it's the kind of loss that can haunt a club if they let it.

as a poet, i have a tendency to have little lines pop into my head at all fucking hours of the day. i have prided myself in remembering these lines for hours on end before i get the chance to write them down. but, as i have grown older, i have grown more likely to write them down when they come to me. unless of course, it's at 6 AM and i haven't got to sleep yet. that's exactly when this killer line came to me this morning. i said fuck it, and went to sleep, hoping i would remember it. thankfully, i did, and i just finished that poem about 30 minutes ago.
i enjoyed WWE Extreme Rules right up until Brock Lesnar's music hit. the last thing i wanted to see was him becoming Universal Champion once again. of course, Vince hasn't agreed with me on his product for over 30 years now. with any luck, he'll lose the fucking title tonight on Monday Night Raw. i know there's likely no fucking chance of that happening, but a guy can dream.
the season finale of Our Cartoon President was crazy last night.

Big Little Lies was really good last night. i'm hoping the finale next week has some fireworks.
Euphoria was excellent last night. their season finale is next week as well.

i didn't sleep good last night. i couldn't find a position where my pinched nerve in my neck wasn't driving me crazy. so, i might have got 4 hours at best. i woke up this morning and had a plan. i wanted to get the poems out and i wanted to get my shit together so i could get my blood drawn. 10 hours now after waking up, and i pretty much have everything done, other than the trash and this blog. and no, they aren't the same.
i sent out 26 poems today; 5 each to Horror Sleaze Trash, Misfit Magazine, Academy of the Heart and Mind (already rejected) and Synchronized Chaos (already accepted for publication); 6 poems to Record Magazine. when i hear back from these places i will pass along the verdicts.
i did get a shave and shower in today. i got my blood drawn, went and picked up pills for mom and then she wanted Taco Bell for lunch/dinner. now, i just need to get this done and get the trash picked up and i'm done for the night.

the USWNT game against the Netherlands yesterday in the Women's World Cup final started off like i thought it would. the first half was pretty even and finished at 0-0. i wasn't surprised when the USA started off on the front foot in the second half and slowly imposed their will. that is what great teams do. i knew that the penalty given to the Netherlands was supposed to be a penalty before VAR told the official it was. when Rapinoe scored, i had a good feeling that was all they were going to need. when Rose Lavelle scored to make it 2-0, i knew it was all over then. i'm so happy for the women on this team. now, hopefully they win their case against U.S. Soccer and actually get equal pay.
the game finished right as the New York Yankees were starting yesterday. the Yankees lost 2-1. i didn't want them to enter the All-Star break on a losing streak, but they are still first in the division by 6 1/2 games. they start the second half with a nice long homestand, so hopefully they will get off to a great start on the road to the playoffs.
then, last night i watched the USMNT against Mexico in the final of the Gold Cup. i loved how the USA started, but of course, they weren't clinical in the final third and pissed chance after chance away. they should have been up 3-0 at halftime. it was 0-0. Mexico made the adjustments that a good coach does and surely enough, they dominated the USA in the second half. when Mexico scored to make it 1-0, i knew there was little chance the USA would come back. it doesn't help when your coach makes some of the dumbest fucking substitutions i have seen in a long time. i'm all for taking off a defender when trailing in a final. but, why the fuck do you replace him with another defender? holy fuck, i would fire him today for that alone.
that loss kept me up until 5 this morning. i must have replayed the game in my head 5 to 10 fucking times. i sadly have the feeling that the best player this country has ever produced (Christian Pulisic) is going to be wasted in yet another generation of USMNT that doesn't win shit.

the USA defeated England 2-1 today to advance to the Women's World Cup finals. this game had a little bit of everything. goals, injuries, red card, plenty of yellow cards, a bullshit penalty call, a brilliant save on that penalty and then a masterclass on wasting time by the USA. and Alex Morgan became the first woman to score a goal on her birthday in the World Cup. and then, she did a brilliant, savage bit of trolling with her celebration.
Monday Night Raw was so much better last night and i know exactly why... Paul Heyman. i'm really hoping they simply hand him the keys and allow his creativity to fucking flow. you could tell last night how his vision is slowly creeping into the picture, finally.

or how i like to call July 1st, happy free agency day. and thankfully, as a New York Rangers fan, i can actually be happy today. the Rangers signed the guy i desperately wanted them to sign, Artemi Panarin. that should be the jolt the offense really needs. and if their #1 pick this year is as good as i think he is, i fully expect the Rangers to make the playoffs this coming season. not bad for deciding to rebuild the team 1 1/2 years ago.
i was pleasantly pleased with what the Sacramento Kings did in free agency. they added some sensible depth to a young club that should be looking to take a leap forward next season.
at the Gold Cup last night, Jamaica defeated Panama 1-0 and the USA survived a listless performance and defeated Curacao 1-0.
