yet again, a genius in Sweden turns my drivel into brilliance

i guess i should really find the time to start blogging again as my good friend, Janne Karlsson, has once again turned some mindless drivel i wrote in this blog into some artistic brilliance. you can find our latest monster by going here:

the genius in Sweden has done it again

i absolutely love when my good friend, Janne Karlsson, takes a snippet of this blog and turns it into art. and better yet, i love it when it actually gets published. you can see what i'm talking about by going here: http://www.horrorsleazetrash.com/poetry/janne-karlsson-j-j-campbell/

the long summer nights

when i woke up at 10 this morning, nearly 3 hours later than i usually do, i wasn't more refreshed or energetic. it was sort of like that groggy feeling when you get too much sleep. i was up pretty late fucking around with trying some charcoal art. no luck there but i think i may have come up with a logo for this blog. one of these days i'll actually post it on here and see what everyone thinks. i like it, so the important part is covered.

when i heard the LeBron news yesterday, i was a little surprised. when i read his essay on si.com about returning, it really hit home. here is a link to it:
http://www.si.com/nba/2014/07/11/lebron-james-cleveland-cavaliers

as an Ohio kid that played basketball in this state, it really hit home. now, i got nowhere near to the level LeBron has reached, but still. i get what it is to be from this state, to be tied to it, to know the hardship and the level of despair that destroys each damn day. as one asshole on tv put it, this was a letter to other Ohioans. he was right. so, as much as i loved the heel turn LeBron took 4 years ago, i suppose it is time to fly the old colors again and go back to being a babyface. now, if he does end up bringing Cleveland a title for the first time in over half a century, he'll do more than just be a king. he will have stepped into the deity level of sports. as for that, i'll believe it when i see it.

another piece of my childhood is dead. http://consequenceofsound.net/2014/07/r-i-p-tommy-ramone-drummer-of-the-ramones/

the Yankees got out to yet another lead last night. and once again, were incapable of making it bigger. and once again, blew that lead. and once again, lost in extra innings, 3-2. it's a tough pill to swallow when you see guys that shouldn't be even in the majors shutting down guys making millions of dollars. they play again this afternoon. i'm going to do my best to avoid it.

mostly because it is on at the same time as the World Cup 3rd place game between Netherlands and Brazil. i really hope both teams just say fuck it and put on an offensive display for the ages. that would be fun to watch.

also tonight, i'll hopefully be up late enough to watch another episode of ROH.

i guess i should get out to feed the cats before they get too pissed that it's later than normal. it's bad enough that they treat the entire fucking farm as their litter box.

maybe if i get a wild hair up my ass, i'll take some more photos outside. if i do that, i'll be sure to get the possible new logo for this blog as well.

hope this finds everyone well. remember to pour one for Tommy Ramone.

be well. be creative. be generous and send me some money. be thoughtful and buy a book. be excited about life and go fuck someone, with their permission of course.

getting old

i've had this damn Lucinda Williams song stuck in my head for months it seemed like. the problem was,  i always thought the song was done by Heartless Bastards. so yesterday, i finally figured this mystery out and got the song on iTunes. not sure why yesterday was the first day i decided to use the internet to figure out this question in my head, but oh well.

mom had a doctor's appointment this morning. she didn't want me to go along, so i didn't. she's been having problems remembering shit, and given the history of dementia and alzheimer's with her parents, i believe both of us want to catch anything as soon as possible. of course, the beauty is it could be a number of other things as well. but, i'm a worse case scenario type of guy. so, i'll have my mind elsewhere while she's waiting on the results of the blood tests and the appointment for a neurological exam. good times.

the Yankees were leading last night 3-0 when the news of the partial ligament tear for Tanaka came down. and just like that, they were trailing 9-3 and the game was over. it felt like the season was as well. that makes 80% of the starting rotation is now on the disabled list. hard to win games let alone contend in the division with those kind of injuries. they play tonight in Baltimore, who happens to be in first place in the division. i'm sure they have the hammer out to put the nails in the coffin tonight. i'd like to see the team show some fight, but even that is probably not enough. it's going to be a long rest of the season.

i did watch Big Brother last night. i'm very happy that Zach stayed in the house. the new HOHs aren't going after him. both of them want to get rid of Devin this week. hopefully, that will happen.

other than baseball tonight, not sure what i'm going to watch. mom got me a charcoal art set, so i guess i might play around with that a little. i'm trying to come up with logos for this blog, for my book, etc., for t-shirts, mugs, mousepads, anything i could possibly sell. i need to start making some money. especially given the fact that the farm is going to go away soon and who knows if i'm going to live with my mother still or not. trust me, i'm not exactly hoping i get to live in my 1992 Ford Ranger.

well, after the last few days, i know that all the cats are alive. Boomer made it back up from the wood lot. and amazingly, my cat Alfred had two kittens recently. saw her nursing them today. so, that makes it that Batman, Robin, and Alfred all got pregnant. where is a damn villain when you need one?

that's all for me today kids. i hope everyone has a great weekend.

be well. be creative. be loud. be the prince of mischief. be the first one to order a round with a stranger's credit card.

take a bite out of...

when i saw it happen yesterday, i laughed. this is what happens when you let a dirty fuck like Luis Suarez continue to play a sport when he should be locked up in an institution. maybe with his THIRD incident like this happening at the World Cup, perhaps he will get the right punishment this time. and god willing, his country and whatever shitty team he ends up playing for, pays for it. but, considering this is FIFA, my hopes aren't high that they will do the right thing.

to recap yesterday's action, Uruguay won 1-0 over Italy in an ugly game. Costa Rica and England played to a 0-0 draw. at least the English got a point in this tournament. Colombia continued their run as the most entertaining team in the tournament, winning 4-1 over Japan. Greece won 2-1 over Ivory Coast on a late penalty kick. i missed that as we had a nice little nasty storm come through and knock out the satellite feed. this all sets up the knockout round games of Columbia vs. Uruguay and Greece vs. Costa Rica. talk about 2 teams no one saw playing each other in the round of 16.

today will be Argentina vs. Nigeria, Iran vs. Bosnia-Herzegovina, Honduras vs. Switzerland, and Ecuador vs. France. i'll be interested to see how Groups E and F shake out.

the Yankees got down by 6 runs last night. they came all the way back to tie the game late. and then lost on a throwing error in the bottom of the 9th. it feels like they are inventing ways to lose now. at least they scored some runs finally. they play again tonight, looking to avoid the sweep.

i enjoyed Deadliest Catch last night. i also enjoyed Tyrant. the twist at the end of the first episode will definitely have me coming back each week.

tonight, two of my guilty summer pleasures will be coming back on television. Big Brother and Wilfred. i know what i will be watching instead of the Yankees playing like shit again.

i was hoping that it was going to be dry yesterday so i could mow this forest of a lawn out here today. and the way the damn forecast looks, it might actually rain for 3 more days. that would make nearly 2 damn weeks of rain. not good.

i did a little art last night. this morning i crumpled it up, but i didn't throw it away. i think it looks more interesting crumpled. if my lazy ass remembers, i might take a picture of it later.

all this rain is doing some serious havoc to my back. i can do all the stretching i need to and i still feel tighter than shit back there. guess it's a good thing i never moved to the pacific northwest like i thought i was going to at 18.

i see the doctor on Friday. my 3 month checkup for my neck and arthritis. my neck is nearly pain free. this rain certainly hasn't helped my arthritis at all.

that's all for me today. i'm off to go ice my back down and squeeze in a nap. hope everyone is doing well. and i certainly hope you live in a place where the sun still exists.

the aftermath

The Dayton Flyers are 40 minutes away from possibly going to The Final Four. i am actually having a hard time fucking believing i just typed that sentence. if they beat Florida tomorrow night, welcome to the apocalypse. also, say goodbye to the campus. there was 28 arrests after the win last night. they might have to arrest everyone in the city if they win tomorrow night. HOLY SHIT.

i went to the doctor today. he believes i am progressing really well with my pinched nerve. i brought up some concerns on some pain i am having in my shoulders and ankles and my family history of arthritis. so, he gave me a drug for that since i really don't take much medication at all. now, i'm not sure if it was the fact that sun came out today or the basketball game from last night, but there was some fuck up between the doctor's office and the pharmacy. and i didn't get that drug when i was there with my mother earlier today. she didn't get all of her meds either. so, i'm hoping i will start that tomorrow. and if that works, that will get me off of the pain pills completely.

the New York Rangers play in Calgary tonight. hopefully their winning ways can continue.

i was feeling a little artsy fartsy today and bought some markers and paper for markers at the store. i'm thinking i might come up with some new shit for a YouTube video.

i'm planning on doing some writing late tonight. i've got a few ideas racing in my head. that's what happens when i spend most of the day people watching at the supermarket and at the sports bar.

i'll be on here sometime after Manchester United plays in the morning. hopefully they win and put me in a good mood for the Dayton game Saturday night.

hopefully this dream never ends.

that's all for me kids. hope this finds all of you well. until we meet again.

all is right in the world (for at least a day)

i got up this morning after maybe 4 decent hours of sleep. i got through my email as fast as possible as i wanted to make sure i watched all the of the pre-game Community Shield stuff. then, i watched the game. RvP does what he has done since the day he came to the club, score BIG goals. i would have loved to not see Rafael get injured (he's out for a month) but shit happens. RvP scores in the second half as well as Manchester United wins the Community Shield 2-0. hopefully this isn't the only hardware Moyes wins this season. they need a midfielder badly and i wouldn't mind some more defensive depth. all in all though, a damn good start to the day.

then the Yankees came on. they got to Verlander early, getting home runs from A-Rod and Soriano. but, in part with the earth soon coming to an end, Mo blows the save for the third straight game. first time in his career he's done that. but, Brett Gardner saves the day with a walk off home run with 2 outs in the 9th. there's a victory beer i really wasn't expecting. the Yankees win their first series in a month. hopefully that becomes a trend if they truly want to make the playoffs.

ROH last night was great. i love a 6 man tag match that is all chaos and great wrestling. a spot fest for sure. next week will be great as it is the 100th episode and will have highlights from all the great television matches from the past.

i got the toilets cleaned and the trash down the lane a little later than normal. it's humid as hell here today. this weather is supposed to break in the next day or so. hopefully it goes as they are expecting as i will be able to turn off the a/c and open up the house again.

tonight will be my usual Sunday tv viewing; Big Brother, The Newsroom, Ray Donovan, and Total Divas. and then hopefully some sleep.

i got some more illustrations from the artist in Sweden today. BRILLIANT is an understatement. i'm really looking forward to see where this project goes.

that's pretty much it for today. i hope this finds all of you well.

watercolors, insanity and murder

here are some watercolors i did a few months back. i really want to thank Debbie Kirk for sending me the paints years ago and actually thinking i would enjoy it. i have a newer batch that i like more than these. i will post them when i get around to actually taking photos of them. enjoy.
